There is some interesting research that suggests exposure to different colors of light can produce different effects and research found that a metal halide bulb, which is a type of light that offers a white light and is something that is rather popular in lighting for things like stadiums, suppressed melatonin significantly more than the HPS bulbs that would offer up a more orange or yellowish light. In addition, LED (Light Emitting Diode) bulbs also gave up white light that supposedly suppressed melatonin more than the yellowish glow of an HPS bulb. These findings may influence future lighting schemes in homes.
