Canada has struggled for years under the weight of its dual languages and officials in New Brunswick are calling for the government there to ban bilingual daycare because kids who are enrolled in an officially bilingual daycare often lose the ability to speak French and are taught English instead. The man at the head of the charge to ban bilingual daycares has suggested that teaching a French child to speak English in preschool and then sending him to French schools later on can negatively impact his development and make it harder for him to succeed in school in later years.
